NEPA Excellence
We live in a time of unprecedented expansion of urban, suburban, and rural transportation utility and other development infrastructure; a time in which the demand for clean air and water has never been greater; a time when the need for protection of natural resources and preservation of our cultural resources has spread beyond the advocacy groups and government regulators and into the American mainstream. In communities everywhere, growth and development are now met with an expectation that local social, economic and environmental assets will be protected and enhanced. That’s where we come in.
Achieving national environmental policy goals at a neighborhood and regional scale requires more than just the ability to generate reports. To be sure, we are exceedingly successful at fulfilling our clients’ environmental compliance needs, having completed over 60 Environmental Assessment (EA) and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) projects and more than 100 Categorical Exclusions (CEs) in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969. More importantly though, we’ve developed a deep and extensive understanding of the social, economic and environmental regulations, policies, and issues that surround the development of transportation and water resource projects. Our approach is interdisciplinary, allowing us to efficiently prioritize those issues that trigger additional regulatory review, and address them to keep projects on track in a manner that safeguards neighborhoods and ecosystems. More than just securing “environmental clearance,” we help make the project a better, more sustainable investment for everyone.
Environmental Management System
Hicks & Company’s NEPA experience extends to transportation design-build projects where we provide a systematic approach for reducing impacts, assuring regulatory compliance and reducing overall risk. As the Environmental Compliance Management Team for the SH 130 project, Hicks & Company provides environmental awareness training, compliance inspection, permit coordination, and a variety of on-going assessment and planning services that help to protect land, water, and air. The Environmental Management System created by Hicks & Company for the SH 130 project is implemented according to an underlying principle of continual improvement.
